Walter Schubert, Founder and CEO
Walter Schubert, a third generation member of the New York Stock Exchange, is the Founder, and CEO of The Schubert Group LLC, a global management consulting firm. He is also the founder of The Gay Financial Network (www.gfn.com), the Internet's first fully integrated financial information and services website for the LGBT community. Of special note, Walter is also the first openly gay member of the New York Stock Exchange. With over 35 years experience in the Financial Services Industry, his extensive knowledge and experience in the securities business, coupled with his initiative in creating The Gay Financial Network and Founding Member of the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce, have earned Schubert a well-deserved reputation as a leader within both the U.S. financial services and LGBT communities.
Walter Schubert has been featured in a broad array of print and broadcast, domestic and international, media venues including CNBC, CNN, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times, The San Francisco Examiner, Financial Times, and The Industry Standard, among many others. Schubert was included in the Crain's New York Business "Technology 100," Silicon Alley Reporter’s "100 Most Powerful Internet Executives" (for three consecutive years) and was named to New York Magazine’s "The Gay List: the city's 101 most influential lesbians and gays" of 2000. Schubert was also named by the NY Daily News as one of “Fifty to Watch in 1999”.
Civic-minded and involved in many community affairs projects, Schubert is an active contributor serving many charities. In 2003, Walter Schubert became the Founding member of the Board of Directors of the National Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce, a non profit organization whose mission is to serve the interests of America’s LGBT owned and operated businesses. He served as its Chairman between 2008 and 2010. In 2009, Walter Schubert was selected as one of the six council members on the New York Stock Exchange’s Financial Literacy Council. This council is comprised of leading experts on financial literacy in the U.S. whose mission is to increase the financial literacy of employed persons in the U.S..
In 2000, he was elected to the National Board of Directors of Parents, Families, and Friends of Lesbian and Gays (PFLAG), the largest grassroots organization whose mission is to add the voices of the parents, families and friends of the LGBT community in the their struggle for equal rights. He was re-elected to the Board of PFLAG in 2004 and served as its Treasurer for 3 years. Walter’s four terms on the Board ended in January of 2009.

The Schubert Group was founded in 2006 by Walter Schubert and several other individuals recognized as top experts in the fields of technology, social media, investment advisory, and business administration. In 2001, Mr. Urbania Co-Founded The Memoria Project, a commemorative memorial sculpture created to honor the victims and survivors of 9/11/2001. As Executive Director, Mr. Urbania led The Memoria Project’s fundraising and public relations efforts resulting in the creation of two 20-ton, thirteen-foot marble statues created on Sandy Hook National Park in New Jersey. Throughout the course of the project, thousands of community members and survivors participated in the creation of the memorial and the surrounding art enrichment and education programs.
Mr. Urbania has held management positions in consulting firms delivering business development, communications, strategic advisory services and sales/marketing consulting to corporations of all sizes. He most recently served as the Director of Business Development at H2L2 Architects/Planners where he oversaw marketing activities and new business development for this 100-year old multinational architecture and planning firm.
Mr. Urbania received his Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration and Marketing from Drexel University in Philadelphia, PA. Mr. Urbania is Chairman of The Memoria Project and serves on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee of the Independence Business Alliance, Greater Philadelphia’s LGBT Chamber of Commerce and the Advisory Committee of Wireless Philadelphia.
Dr. Leonard Liu is chairman and chief executive officer of Augmentum, Inc. Dr. Liu has spent 30 years in the systems industry, with a history of developing innovative computing technologies into successful businesses.
Leonard has played key roles in the development of the PC, enterprise software and semiconductor industries. Most recently, he served as president of ASE Group, a provider of IC test and packaging services, having held roles as Chairman and CEO of Walker Interactive Systems, COO of Cadence Design Systems, and President of Acer Group. Dr Liu has been a champion of globally distributed software development for decades.
Dr. Liu began his career at IBM where he was responsible for the creation and implementation of SQL and the management of CICS, SNA, and AIX, eventually overseeing the worldwide Database and Language lines-of-business. He received his undergraduate degree from Taiwan University and his Ph.D. from Princeton University.
