Founder and Chief Executive Officer

Walter Schubert, a third generation member of the New York Stock Exchange is the Founder and CEO of The Schubert Group LLC, a global management consulting firm. He is also the Chairman and CEO of SGI LLC, a member firm of the NASD. He is also the founder of The Gay Financial Network, GFN.COM, the Internet's first fully integrated financial information and services Web site for the gay and lesbian community. With over 30 years experience on Wall Street in the Financial Services Industry, and as the first openly gay member of the NYSE, his extensive knowledge and experience in the securities business, coupled with his initiative in creating The Gay Financial Network have earned Schubert a well-deserved reputation as a recognized leader within both the U.S. financial service and LGBT communities.

From November 1987 to August 1992, Mr. Schubert served as President and Chief Executive Officer of ABD-NY Inc., a $10 million company capitalized by ABD Securities Corporation whose shareholders were the Dresdner and Hypo Banks of Germany. During his tenure, he successfully planned and implemented a progressive and forward-thinking strategy, which resulted in the De Novo creation of a specialist unit, on the NYSE floor. It was the first time this had occurred in over 100 years of the Exchange.

Throughout his 20 years as an active member on the trading floor of the NYSE, Mr. Schubert served on several committees, which addressed the future needs of the financial service industry with regard to electronic order execution and delivery systems.

Active politically, Schubert meets frequently with visiting domestic and foreign governmental officials. In 1984, he was invited to the White House by then President Ronald Reagan and personally thanked for his service in the Private Sector Initiatives Department. In 1999 and 2000 Schubert met with President Clinton and other leaders of the American LGBT community to discuss legislative initiatives then in the Congress. Among the most notable guests who have been hosted at the New York Stock Exchange by Mr. Schubert are Hon. Alexander Haig, Former U.S. Secretary of State and White House Chief of Staff, Former U.S. Senator Charles Robb, Congressman Patrick Kennedy (D-RI), Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin (D Wis), Congressman Barney Frank, D Mass. [current Chairman of House Financial Services], Congressman Jerrold Nadler, and two sitting presidents of the Deutsche Bundesbank, Dr. Helmut Schlessinger and Prof., Dr. Hans Tietmeyer.

Walter Schubert has been featured in a broad array of print and broadcast, domestic and international, media venues including CNBC, CNN, The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times, The San Francisco Examiner, Financial Times, and The Industry Standard, among many others. Schubert was included in the Crain's New York Business "Technology 100," Silicon Alley Reporter's "100 Most Powerful Internet Executives" (for three consecutive years) and was named to New York Magazine's "The Gay List: the city's 101 most influential lesbians and gays of 2000." Mr. Schubert was also named by the NY Daily News as one of “ Fifty to Watch in 1999.”

Acutely aware of the increasing automation in the financial industry, Mr. Schubert believes today's successful financial strategies for growth should consistently embrace new technologies, which enrich and enhance personal relationships and community development. He strives to build strong and lasting relationships with key decision-makers in all areas of the financial marketplace and values the assistance of the new technologies in support of this mission.

Civic-minded and involved in many community affairs projects, Mr. Schubert is an active contributor to many non-profit organizations. In 2003, Walter Schubert became a Founding member of the Board of Directors of the National Gay and Lesbain Chamber of Commerce, a non-profit organization whose mission is to serve the interests of America's LGBT owned and operated businesses. He currently serves as the organization's Chairman.

In 2000, Mr. Schubert was elected to the National Board of Directors of Parents, Families, and Friends of Lesbian and Gays (PFLAG), the largest grassroots LGBT organization whose mission is to add the voices of the parents, families and friends of the LGBT community in their struggle for equal rights. He was re-elected to the Board of PFLAG in 2004 and currently serves as the organization’s Treasurer.
